COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Certificate of Bloodborne Pathogens Prevention for Healthcare Workers (CBBPP) training is critical for protecting the safety and health of healthcare workers and other professionals at risk of exposure to bloodborne diseases. BBP prevention is intended to guard against infection and other pathogen dangers. The CDC estimates that workers in the health care industry and anyone whose job involves contact with blood are at the highest risk of occupational exposure.

At the completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

• Define and describe BBP Transmission
• Understand the most common infections
• Explain how best to handle blood and OPIM
• Discuss safe handling procedures
• List safe cleanup procedures
• Review OSHA standards
• Discuss PPE and Controls
