This course details recommendations for providers at all levels of veterinary service to employ when addressing this common and yet complicated area of care.
• Understand the definitions and conditions of compassionate care
• Outline best practices of communication during end-of-life cycles
• Describe recommended structures and optional referrals for animal comfort
• Discuss provider and owner health and wellness as it relates to end-of-life emotions
• Outline optimal structure of a compassionate care program in a standard veterinary site
